FAREWELL JEANNE
Monday July 13 was a Rotary meeting that was filled with mixed emotions. Many of our members were so happy to be meeting face to face for a club meeting for the first time since the Covid 19 shutdowns, but there was also sadness at saying farewell to Jeanne, our Belgium Rotary Youth Exchange student.
Jeanne arrived from Belgium in July 2019 and although being a bit nervous, she fit right into the Kincumber club and was actively involved in most of our meetings and took every opportunity presented to her, even making opportunities for herself. Jeanne presented the club with an excellent review of her time in Australia. Her growth as a person, her resilience (especially when faced with unusually difficult Covid circumstances) and her English all thrived. The club was moved by her honesty and integrity and will be sad to say goodbye.
The club welcomed two of Jeanne’s host families to the meeting and two sent their apologies. Without their ongoing support and care, these opportunities would not be available. Jeanne has made lifelong friends and many, I believe, she would consider as family. We wish her a safe trip home and bid her a fond farewell. Until we meet again!
VISIT TO GOSFORD CITY ROTARY CLUB
Last week our inbound from Belgium Jeanne Bruyr, spoke to Gosford City Rotary Club, with her district co-ordinator Christine, on the amazing opportunities of Rotary Youth Exchange. We love seeing our students get out to clubs and share their experiences and more about this amazing program.
